Stilvoll’s Crescendo C2 Desk

A wildly adaptive design, Stilvill’s Crescendo C2 desk comes in three separate heights: “School & College,” “Secretary” and “Standing Desk.” Although those size categories may be confusing to the average desk-buying passerby, Stilvoll will hope that you open up the various components of their traditional-looking table top to reveal the desk’s true nature: a versatile contraption that allows for several uses for any age or occupation. Folding in-and-out in this-way-and-that, the Crescendo C2 desk incorporates engineering that’s practically unnoticeable until you start manipulating it in both width and height. What’s most striking about the desk’s design contrast of deliberate simplicity in the use of rough, bare wood to look like a drafting table and the intricate interaction of mechanical components to allow for personalization per task.

The Deadly Multipurpose Closet

While it may not be a killer weapon-inspired piece of furniture, the Deadly Multipurpose Close hast its own way of getting the eye. Inspired by the classic magic trick of sticking knives (and not killing anyone), it features wooden “swords” that “impale” the unit as supports or racks for your clothes. Only a concept for now, it already proves a fun, practical idea that will show your guests that you mean business. And although it may not go great with your modern environment, the kids will obviously love it. Hell, we love it, too!

Tetris Furniture by Diego Silverio and Helder Filipov

Tetris is one of the most classic and phenomenal games ever created. Even over two decades later, the interest and hype still continues. Tetris is so popular, that two artists, Diego Silverio and Helder Filipov, have created epic and modern pieces of furniture which are modeled after the famed tetriminoes. Designed to be multi-functional (as desks, shelves, drawers or tables), these pieces offer functional storage, colorful design, and superiorly built frames. Surprisingly, each piece is designed to be able to stand alone or fit with the other tetris “pieces”.

Knitted Slipcover : Hot or Not ?

This Knitted Slipcover is something really unique and creative. When I first saw this picture I was really impressed by the beauty of this knitted slipcover, and by the time involved into this project. This picture is from Erika Knight’s Simple Knits with a Twist: Unique Project for Creative Knitters and is called the Aran armchair cover. Now I don’t know how practical this knitted slipcover could be, but it certainly is beautiful ! What do you think is it … Hot or Not ?

Ecodecor is the furniture label by Brandarchitecture whose consistent design theme is ‘healing space for the next generation’. The chair looks awesome but from this picture I don’t think that is to comfortable.

Drape Table by Jane Punnopatham

What do flowers, drapes and wave flower vases have in common? They were all sources of inspiration for designer, Jane Punnopatham who created the Drape Side Table. The molded acrylic table form resembles tablecloths except there are no tables! The rigid form of the Draped Table makes it free-standing. The design softens with the wavy edges created by heating and hand molding. Each table is thus unique.
Here’s what’s cool about it - invert the table and you’ve got yourself a handy basket!! Somewhere to toss dirty laundry perhaps? Or a toy basket to corral the toys that get underfoot? The Drape tables are available from Spectrumwest for $1250 in black, clear and frost.

Family Dinning Table from the Future : Kure

“The dinners are one of the most special times for all families.” - This was the idea from where Turkish designer Fatih Can Sarıöz started this project, that is just an interesting concept for now. Named Kure this family dinning table that appears to be something from future it is designed like a flower that opens up to a full-fledged dinning table. Shaped as a sphere when close, it can occupy any corner of the house. Fitted with a light source in the center, the base too glows with blue light. Pod-like form accommodates six dinning chairs which can also be used otherwise also. An alternative set of furniture that aims to bring the whole family together at meal times, Kure doesn’t really help to save space. The sphere seems to occupy almost equal room when closed or in use.

The Rolf Benz VERO Comfort Sofa

The only things I need to buy in my apartment are the draperies and a new sofa. You can’t imagine how time consuming that is (unless you had to do it, too) with all those models up there, if you’re a picky customer like me. But things may change today, because I’ve just seen the Rolf Benz VERO sofas and at least a couple of them would blend in perfectly with my living-room.

From what I see these guys have the experience to build long-lasting modern sofas that offer a highly comfortable seating experience and first-class quality. Secondly most important for a sofa, after the design, is how practical it is. Well the new Rolf Benz VERO was designed for everyday use, and that says it all.

It’s an 116cm wide and 170cm long sofa, with a luxurious touch and if the leather is not for me, the textile Rolf Benz VERO sofa is exactly what I need at the moment. Just need to see if these guys ship overseas.

Practical Huggy Armchair

At Freshome we really enjoy furniture that can twist, bend or turn, to get a new shape for different purposes. Take the Huggy armchair for example. Normally it has a mattress that is wrapped inside a small cylindrical wooden base, like the ice cream in a cone, to form a 77 x 60 x 60 cm comfortable armchair. However if you need to come up with a solution, if your friends decided to stay overnight, you can change it into an extra bed. Just unscrew the base and roll the mattress on the floor, you’ll have a 190 x 120 cm perfect bed.
Huggy armchair can even be changed into a small table. Turn the base upside-down and voila, you have a 60 cm diameter, 40 cm height and 12 cm thick, useful night table. It shouldn’t be very expensive and could easily be done by yourself if you have some time to kill.

Dolce Vita Chair and Footrest Set

A long day at the office deserves at least a couple of minutes of rest in a comfortable place. Stefano Bigi designed the Dolce Vita swivel chair and footrest combo for La Cividina Inc and obviously did a very good job. First thing that gets the attention is the shape and the powerful orange color. Crafted in ABS plastic and with steel painted or chromed, the set looks very unique and has a radical contemporary look. Just by looking and knowing that it’s covered with polyurethane foam and polyester fiber, I can bet the Dolce Vita chair and footrest set is really comfortable. I also enjoy the powerful orange color, do you?

Furniture for Primary School Children

It doesn’t matter how hard times get, people will spend money on their children. Parents will throw bus loads of money at anything they think will help their children perform better in school, to get ahead, to go to a better school, to get ahead, rinse and repeat.
Simon Dennehy has something parents can buy their elementary school children for the coming school year. Furniture designed for elementary school children! It used to be that inventors came up with ideas, mass marketed them and hope it caught on somewhere. These days, niches are big enough to be mass marketed. Furniture for kids, primary school kids is a good idea nonetheless. This desk and chair set takes care of the correct posture and the correct chair height to ensure a healthy back and to reduce problems like poor digestion, nausea, headaches and poor circulation.
Seriously. Why wouldn’t parents want what’s best for their kids so their kids can perform well? Ventilated slots in the seat and backseat, legs that protrude to the back, elbow rests, hollow-section polycarbonate rests, non-slip, easily-cleaned and the list can continue. Ergonomy for children in a practical way. Now, can they make kids study, too?

Contemporary Cupboard - Tide by Karim Rashid

This interesting contemporary cupboard, designed by Karim Rashid for Horm, is the ideal solution for those who are looking for a piece of furniture that has something unique. This piece of furniture designed by Karim Rashid called “Tide Cupboard” echoes the ripples and undulation of ocean waves in thin, parallel slats, bringing a peaceful tranquility and minimalist aesthetic. In a range of vibrant lacquered colors, or the pure white shown here, nothing detracts from the serene flow of lines.

Kids Chair with Roll-Top Storage Space

The Kid’s Roll Top Chair has a sitting surface that works like an old-time roll-top desk, sliding away to reveal storage space where kids can put their toys and other “stuff” while being usable as a chair too. As the name of this chair already suggests, the chair was designed for kids, and it looks like a cool idea, but I think that the chair will be broken in a few hours or maximum days, because as we all know kids love to see how things work, and experiment. If you want it no matter what, and you don’t care that your kids might destroy it quickly you can buy it from here for $168.

Beautiful Piece of Furniture - Evitavonni Blue Chair

The Evitavonni Blue Chair is a piece of furniture with a brilliant color of blue that makes the chair an inevitable focal point for any room. The design is suitable for contemporary interiors and is truly iconic, the quilted effect with interspersed buttons playing with the norms of more traditional furniture. The chair looks good, and I’m pretty sure that it will cost some money but you have a good looking piece of furniture that can last a lifetime. Finally to make everything look even better the chair comes equipped with a comfortable matching footstool.
